If there is anything that P-Noy cannot be accused of, it is
being a hostage to political patronage. Who knew about Robredo but the people
of Naga, whom he served for 18 years? The DILG is one of the most sought-after departments in the government, especially for those with ambitions to advance their political careers, but P-Noy will not be deterred. He brought to the fore a
city mayor who has no experience nationwide but whom he knew was as clean as a razor’s edge. He would deliver the kind of unblemished governance that he
promised the Filipino people. The rest is now history. Jesse Robredo achieved
in death what he did not achieve in life.
We certainly live in interesting times. We were treated to a
few months of breathtaking afternoon dramatics, not to mention Santiago’s
antiques that we all love to hate because she would follow it up with pick-up
lines bordering on lewdness that will make you laugh. That, too, is now history, which ended with the Chief Justice being found guilty and therefore undeserving
of staying on as Chief Justice.
While eulogies were being showered over Robredo’s coffin,
P-Noy took a break from the wake and rendered the oath of office to the new Chief
Justice of the Supreme Court.
Aside from “too young to be CJ” accusations, she scored low on a Psychological Test, which I find really naive and short-sighted. Her
comparatively young age should not come as a surprise to anyone in the Aquino administration.
Has anyone paused for a moment and taken a glimpse, I mean, really taken a close
look at the P-Noy’s administration? It is a team of not-too-young-not-too-old individuals, in fact, where the young ones are teeming with energy, and the real action is taking place: Robredo (DILG), Tolentino (MMDA), Delima (DOJ), and
now Sereno at the Supreme Court.
Psychological Tests are designed for the general population, meaning for the 90% of the dicks, Marys, and Harrys of the world, but hey, we are fishing for the Chief Justice of the Supreme Court. IQ test, not a psychological test, should be a better parameter for choosing the best of the best. The new CJ
graduated valedictorian and Cum Laude at the UP College of Law and was number 14 in the Bar Examination, meaning the lady is a certified genius. She will
score high on IQ tests but low on psychological tests because she will answer the same set of questions differently from the so-called average Dicks, Marys,
and Harrys. The dividing line between genius and insanity is as thin as a spider's web. Let us pray that the Supreme Court justices, jealous of her youth, intelligence, and wit, will not unhinge her sanity because her genius will
immensely benefit the country.
