WERE THEY GENTLE TERRORISTS OR REBELS WITHOUT A CAUSE?

What in heaven’s name was that Marawi siege?

Were the Maute brothers the new version of gentle terrorists, or were they rebels without a cause? If the AFP is correct, more than 700 terrorists are dead, and for what? I am still puzzling over what their goal was. Prewar videos were shown, planning to take over the city, but they didn’t reveal their ultimate aim. Were they paid to simply destroy the city? Why was Hapilon alone? Where are his Tausug fighters from the famed Abu Sayyaf terror group? Were the Abu Sayyaf bandits decimated, forcing Hapilon to seek refuge in Marawi?

Long before the Marawi siege, the government was already engaged in an all-out war in Sulu and Basilan against the Abu Sayyaf. Is the government finally winning over terror and other lawless elements? Will the NPA next go extinct?

I am left scratching my head, wondering why they did what they did. If their goal was parallel with the Middle East ISIS, they did everything wrong from the start, meaning they were not being properly coached. They burned Dansalan College, the catholic church, and other places that forewarned people to run. If their goal was to declare Marawi City an Islamic State, allowing people to leave was a great mistake. How can you declare a city without people a State? They should have taken the entire city’s population a hostage. They should have mined and blockaded all the bridges, thereby isolating the central city from the rest of the river. If needed, they should have blown up the bridges. With people still in the city, the government would have rendered air support useless, and the war would have dragged on for years, not months.

As Marawians, let’s take comfort in the knowledge that it could have been far worse. Destroyed buildings can be rebuilt, and the government is doing everything it can to do just that. Maybe it is just Allah’s mysterious way of doing better things. Nothing in the world is free. There is always something to pay for something better in return.

The terrorists probably expected the Maranaws to rally behind them, but when the people started running and the terror group let them, their cause, whatever it was, was lost. They should have realized that they couldn’t fight the AFP bullet for bullet sniper for sniper because the government has an endless supply of men and firepower. Resistance was futile. They should have abandoned the city in the early days and returned to their lairs in the mountains of Butig to fight another day. What a waste and all for nothing…!

REBUILDING MARAWI: Summer Capital of the South

Rudy D. shared his post, and in the subsequent dialogue/thread posts, he suggested an alternative route from Marawi via Guimba without elaborating. I remember trekking through these parts of the countryside as a child, where I spent part of my childhood growing up. I don’t really know what these places look like right now, so I went to Google! 

I am referring to an old road that cuts through cornfields and traverses various barrios up close to the Pantar Bridge. Surprisingly, Google has it marked in its satellite maps.

During the American era, Marawi, formerly known as Dansalan City, was the summer capital of the South. It is now or never to make Marawi/Lanao a tourist attraction and once again the summer capital of the southern Philippines. 

This photo was taken in 2011. I visited my cousins living in the area and purposely placed the old road in the background for nostalgic reasons.

TIME TRAVELERS: Builders of the PYRAMIDS

These wall carvings are very significant and have, of course, attracted a lot of attention, but what strikes me as odd is the lack of attention given to their deeper meaning. Aside from the helicopter, I have not seen in any YouTube video where the rest of the carvings were interpreted more intelligently. In fact, science has a specific term for it. When I scrutinized various YouTube videos more closely, I was shocked at what I had previously ignored as helicopters and planes. I realized that what we simply ignored as insects were mechanical robotic insects, or why would the creator mix it with mechanical objects like the helicopter and flying cars? You be the judge…!

😊 absolute proof the Pyramids of Giza were built by TIME TRAVELLERS, meaning if they have the technology to build the Pyramids of Giza, they have the technology to travel in time and most probably the technology to live forever – THE IMMORTALS, and yeah – they are Intergalactic interplanetary hoppers. The proof has been as we say…at the tip of our noses. Don’t be surprised therefore to find Pyramids everywhere in the galaxy not to mention Mars. They must have used a technology beyond our imagination like…object materialization?

DUTERTE: Captain Barbell is falling…!

Sad! Captain Barbell, the country’s superhero, is falling from the sky. In a world where the battle for the hearts and minds of people is fought in the arena of the media, the president’s men who run the department are highly amateurish. What a waste—Teddy Locsin Jr. would better serve the country as press secretary than a UN ambassador.

One word, one bullet that is disabling the president’s wing, is EJK, a despicable word that the enemy of the state has honed to shoot down the president’s rating. Gangs and criminals, drug peddlers, and their bosses kill with impunity because, anyway, the media and HR groups will call it EJK. Rogue policemen involved in drugs, kidnapping, and other criminal activities likewise kill with impunity in broad daylight to discredit a president who is bound to get them one way or another.

EJK is not only undermining the president’s rating but also overshadowing the government's positive achievements.

The Mega Manila subway system alone is mind-bogglingly inspiring, and previous administrations considered it too big and too expensive to even discuss. It is not new; it has been floated as far back as I can remember, but no president dares to touch it with a totem pole. It needs a superhero to drag it out of people’s dreams into reality. Still, hey, the subway system is just one of many goodies in the president’s sack full of promises – a 9 trillion build, build, and build infrastructure program.  A whopping  9 trillion worth of goodies – including local and international airports, superhighways, expressways, railways, high-speed trains, Light Rail Transit systems, skyways, bridges, ports, and free college education. It is breathtaking, and then you pause and wonder – what the hell were previous administrations doing? You realize then why the president's political enemies want him to fail: to save face. 

What the government needs is a PR company or an agency of government that will respond effectively to the president’s critiques in a civilized manner, not name-calling or cursing. It is right for the media to cover the war on drugs, but it should likewise cover what the government is doing for the fallen innocents. Cops are charged with murder. Erring cops are sent to the front line while others are either discharged from service or suspended for offenses unbecoming of an officer and a gentleman. 

Where in the world did you hear an entire police force of a city numbering thousands shipped out to other places for mere suspicion of involvement in crimes? Why is the media mum on these crucial issues?

The government needs a media that highlights its gargantuan infrastructure projects. The war on drugs, which initially excites people, has lost its allure. Let people hear what they want to hear…a beautiful Philippines racing towards “first-world” country status.

ISIS: Never Underestimate the Power of the DARK SIDE

It is all so unreal - Terrorists/ISIS…? Are you joking? Most Filipinos don’t even know where Marawi City is, and yeah, the ISIS/ISIL/IS, whichever name you choose, is in the Middle East. How did it come to my highland city halfway around the world?

Terror has likewise globalized. It can happen to anyone, anywhere. The masterminds of 9/11 – the Big Bang that globalized terror succeeded beyond their dreams, and most of them live to see it come true.
