STORMY M.E. HORIZONS

The news today heralds more storms on the horizon for the Middle East. Khadafy's youngest son and grandchildren died in a NATO airstrike. Ahmadinejad boycotts his office (can a president do that?), disappearing from public view after a clash with the powerful Mullahs, while an Iranian general declared the Gulf forever Persian, not Arab. A suicide bomber killed an Iraqi judge and many others. Syria made more arrests after hundreds were dead.

Bahrain likewise made more arrests and launched a boycott of Iranian goods. Egypt will open the Rafa’a border crossing with Gaza while Israel is in a diplomatic frenzy, begging the USA/UN not to recognize a Palestinian Unity Government between Hamas and the PLO (divide and rule). Saudi Arabia clamps down on Press Freedom and arrests more Shi’a activists.

They say that whenever the Middle East sneezes, the rest of the world gets the cold (oil price hikes), but the Philippines also gets the cough, with its millions of foreign workers caught in the crossfire.

About Me

acson005
We sail along our lives through different stages of Islands each time changing us in ways that we didn’t envision. We morphed as we age not as a different person but into someone with evolving perceptions of the ocean we sail. We all have our own worlds or individual oceans to sail. We try to tailor our journeys according to our dreams but the storms in our lives are spoilers that reduce our aspirations into endless cycle of re-building shipwrecks but we never stop hoping that in the end; we will sail towards the sunset on undisturbed waters.
