IMAGINE: you are able to talk to yourself anywhere in time

I was Googling images of time travel when I found my book among the results. I remembered having posted the photo in my blog, so that’s it. Among the many images were lookalikes of famous people from long ago. 

When I was young and grazing the beasts under my care (cows and water buffalo), I wondered how Maya birds recognized each other’s relatives whenever a flock flew over the rice field. They all looked alike, and then, with an amusing thought, the Maya birds could likewise be wondering how we humans recognize each other. We all have hair, eyes, ears, noses, and mouths.

My daughters said, I look like Jackie Chan – ha ha ha! With 7 billion denizens of planet Earth alone, you can reshuffle our DNA only so much and end up with some who look alike with only a few differences. Although in a lottery, only one or a few can win, hundreds differ from the winner by only one number, and thousands more by two digits. This means that, with 7 billion people on Earth, some will end up looking like me, or I will look like them. Imagine a multiverse universe where the stakes infinitely increase…not one, but many will look exactly like me – a parallel universe.

One of the most intriguing physical proofs that time travel could be possible is that an old woman was accidentally caught talking into what appeared to be a cell phone in a Charlie Chaplin movie. The puzzle, though, that not many people come to talk about is…to whom was she talking to?

With the theoretical possibility of the existence of exotic sub-sub-subatomic (dark matter) particles so miniscule it is beyond our observation by any available machine at present (Large Hadron Collider) – we may in the future develop the technology to communicate with someone somewhere in time, meaning I can communicate with myself in another place in time, but wow…it’s mindboggling scary. Just think about it…it’s insanely crazy. Suppose the speed of light is the only barrier between now and anywhere else in time. In that case, we may be able to communicate with ourselves from any point in time and anywhere in the past, at a specific moment when the technology becomes available, no matter how fantastical it may seem. We may even talk to ourselves beyond the grave. (Don’t search the internet. This is my own theoretical fantasy.) 

These are objects that may have been sucked into a wormhole (time tunnel) and transported over long distances in time. Many scientists believe that wormholes were a consequence of the Big Bang, which occurred in varying sizes.

Oftentimes, I wonder why the Kaaba in Mecca is clad in black, and the ritual of ‘Taw’waf’ (circumambulation) is counterclockwise, the same direction all galaxies rotate, and planets in our solar system orbit around the sun. Did God give us a timeless message? If you are not a Muslim reading this, the Kaaba is the first house of worship dedicated to God, built by Prophet Abraham (a.s.) and his son Ishmael (a.s.). They originated the ritual of counterclockwise circumambulation by the command of the Almighty.

If you had told me 30 years ago, when I had to drive 173 km and pay 8 riyals per minute to call my family in Manila, that one day in the not-so-distant future, you, my friend, would carry in your pocket a small gadget that would let you call anyone anywhere on the planet and send a telegraphic (TXT) message of 160 characters at a negligible price of one peso, I would have called you insane—absolutely insane. 

If you were to tell me now that, in the not-so-distant future, I will be able to talk to the same me with my cellular phone from another time and place, I believe you.

El Niño Freak Weather and Saudi Arabia

I have always thought of the massive rain in this town (Zahran Al Janoub) in 1982-83 as a global consequence of the El Niño weather phenomenon, but I wanted to be sure, so I did a few clicks in search of info…and voila, I found this.

(Take note in the above that the dates 1982-83 and 2014-16 are the strongest)

The freakish weather in 1982-83 virtually dissolved the government hospital where I worked. After the rain, workers patched the leaks on the roof deck. The following year, the freak storms and weeks of rain returned, causing the hospital's roof deck to collapse and forcing the government to order the staff to evacuate.

More than 40 bridges (according to an engineer friend) between the highland city of Abha and Jizzan along the Red Sea coast were washed away by rampaging flood waters.

In 15 years, the government had moved the hospital twice, renting buildings in town to house the hospital, offices, and the nurses’ hostel. In 2001, a new hospital (which had been in construction for more than 10 years) finally opened to the public. A new 200-bed hospital is presently under construction in another part of the town.

There is a verse in the Qur’an where it says that slaughter is better than to be oppressed. Fortunately or unfortunately, some Muslims took it literally. There are 3 ways to respond to a wrong in Islam: 1) stop it with your hands (physical response), 2) stop it with your voice (verbal response), and if none of the two is possible – 3) resist (dislike) it deep in your heart.

Oppressive Muslim leaders and Western pro-Israel beasts would like the Muslims to take the middle road (#2), but if they can have their way, they would keep Muslims treading the 3^rd road – PASSIVE SILENT RESISTANCE.

With so many oppressive leaders around the world – it is no wonder that violent resistance is so prevalent among Muslim nations and in non-Muslim countries where Muslim minorities are oppressed.

My Country’s Race to FIRST WORLD

If the building of infrastructure can be a measure of a nation’s growth, my country is racing to the stars. Everywhere I turn, I see skyscrapers inching to the skies, some of which are so tall that they seem to have reached the clouds. Notably, the mushrooming skyscrapers are sprouting everywhere, as if the ground, neglected for decades, is finally fertile for growth.

We complain incessantly about the traffic, but honestly, there are enough roads with elevated ones, which we appropriately call skyways, that are rising everywhere from the ground. I envision a future where the entire length of EDSA (equated with traffic) will be canopied by a skyway, while the subway mass transit system will be plying its underground routes. With bad, undisciplined drivers, though, no road will ever be enough for a booming can-afford-a-car middle class.

I wonder why, as we build more massive malls in the Metro, the number of people who congest them, patronize their signature shops, and fill their restaurants and movie houses increases. Where are these people coming from?

Condominium towers that used to be meant for the rich and famous are mushrooming everywhere, and the builders never run out of buyers.

Are Filipinos that wealthy, or are we just becoming newly rich with the young and the restless leading the race to a good life in the first century of the third millennium? I wonder…! Let no bad ‘next’ president spoil your dreams. Let’s keep racing to the stars…

If there is one place to find beautiful GIFs; it’s g+ because Google among many giant tech companies enables its websites including g-mail to see pictures in live GIF format. You can g-mail a GIF to a friend and receive it live. It is how I copy/download a gif to my disc by simply sharing it to my g-mail.

Whoever wrote this article did not know what he was talking

about. He is probably not a Muslim, and if he is, he probably did not make the

Hajj and saw that the multibillion-dollar government has spent and continues to

spend to develop the places of the Hajj ritual to make the journey safe and

comfortable. The present expansion of the Holy Mosque is worth 22 billion

dollars, including the matrix of subway under the city, slated to be completed in

2020.

To even suggest that Islam should allow pilgrimage to other

holy sites in other countries to decongest Mecca during the annual pilgrimage is

blasphemy because there is one and only one first house of worship built by the Prophet

Abraham and his son Ishmael, and that is the ‘Kaaba.’

You cannot compare the time when pilgrims came by donkeys, camels

and steamships to today’s means of modern transport, and with the growing affluence

of Muslims around the planet, not to mention the mind-blowing rise of Islam in

numbers – the number of pilgrims will continue to grow immensely.

The only way you can stop the rising number of pilgrims is

to uproot the ‘Kaaba’ and bring it to the moon, because then, not many will be

able to make the pilgrimage, but given time, even the moon will be overwhelmed. It is better to

believe it!

Even when faced with calamitous death tolls, the Saudi establishment is unlikely to change its approach. It is up to the rest of the Muslim world to provide alternatives to the modern idea, championed by Saudi Wahhabis and other arch-conservatives, that Mecca is the inexorable and inevitable center of the Muslim world. There is nothing stopping Muslim governments from taking a page out of the Saudi handbook and promoting the neglected shrines in their own territories.

Doing so would not only reduce the number of pilgrims traveling to Mecca, making the visits safer; it would also force Saudi Arabia to share the enormous profits of religious tourism. Even more important, moving beyond the modern hajj to a more plural pattern of pilgrimage could help stem the Wahhabi takeover of the faith.

After you watch this 2 minute CNN report, I beg you to look back at the time when ISIS forces were cutting people's necks on television, nailing Muslims and Christians on the cross, and slaughtering people in the streets; you will realize that - your Muslim friends who keep telling you that these are mercenaries trained, armed and paid for by the USA are...right!
