                The Sarimanok has become the symbol of the Maranao people. Very recently, it gained international popularity when it was made the symbol of the Miss Universe Beauty Pageant. When literally translated, it simply means an artificial cock. Muslim scholars cannot even agree on the real symbolism of the Sarimanok. Some believe it to be a symbol of power, prestige, and wealth, so that people of lower socioeconomic status are not expected to use it. Others think it was used in rituals during ancient times. Whatever they believe it to be, others and I have a different interpretation. Sarimanok is a work of art, and, like other arts (such as literature, fine arts, music, and poetry), it reflects not only the ingenuity of the people who created it but also their mental outlook and, to some extent, the prevailing conditions at the time. Viewing it from this angle, we see the Sarimanok as contentment, an idle nature detached from reality, and resignation. Could this be the same with the people it represents? If yes, then it could be the symbol of the Maranao people. The RANAO COUNCIL, therefore, since it dedicates itself to the well-being of the Maranao people, has to make Sarimanok its symbol, but a unique one. Not the colorful, resigned and idle cock but an active and aggressive one. Alone, it symbolizes the ideals of the Ranao Council: to transform a fatalistic, resigned, and contented people into an active and progressive one. For simplicity, the Sarimanok is bereft of its motif design (okir), but it is still gracefully designed.

                The Americans, Israelis, and Germans are proud of their Eagle, and they have good reasons to be. Eagles are fierce birds that feed on smaller animals and weaker birds. Could it also be the reason why these groups of people gained a reputation as the bloodiest and most aggressive conquerors of our age? The Sarimanok is different. On air, it is very graceful and never fierce, but cornered in an enclosed cockfight arena, it fights to the death.

                The Sarimanok is a mythical fowl and may appear in different hues. Its color, therefore, does not affect its essential being. Blue suits our Sarimanok best, as it symbolizes peace, which is the primary goal of the Ranao Council. It will also make our Sarimanok appear like a love ‘blue’ bird, which has often been made a symbol for lovers.

It is a bearer of love and peace.

The baffling minds of a ‘7 years old…’

I was scanning old pictures when my 7-year-old daughter paused behind me, peeked at the monitor with her chin at my right shoulder, and asked, “Ano’yan daddy; dagat?” (What is that, Daddy? The sea?) and there is not a drop of seawater in the picture.

I was shocked; it baffles me to this day…

The Assir region is Saudi Arabia’s highest peak, and wherever you drive, you can’t help but be awed by the beauty of this corner of the Arabian Peninsula. It is more than 3,000 feet above sea level with a weather system that is almost heavenly if you consider the searing heat of the desert. It is not hard to tell if you travel through the breathtaking panorama of mountains and valleys that these valleys and rocks were once at the bottom of the sea.

The shoreline markings (Google map photo) that divide the underwater rocks and the mountain peaks that were above water are unmistakable, but how a ‘7-year-old’ tells from a 30-year-old photo is mindboggling. My other children grew up in this region, and although we frequently travelled through these mountains, none of them ever mentioned being in what used to be a sea, and here comes one who has never been there, peeked at a worn-out photo, and said, “What is that, daddy, the sea?”

AFTER YEARS OF TORTURE; 9/11 suspects will be tried…

Sigh! Finally, after years of torture, the directors and executive producers of 9/11 are now sure that the actors and supporting characters are ready to deliver their lines. With the controlled environment of the “AMERICAN GULAG” at Guantanamo Bay, Cuba, nothing is expected to go wrong. If it does, the directors can always shout cut and reshoot later. This is another glaring example of how a US president is nothing more than a puppet; a ‘yes man’ to the people who put him in the White House; the same supermen that perpetually run the Evil Empire.

Obama was elected into office by the good people of the U.S. of A., seeking justice for the victims of 9/11. First, Obama promised to close the ‘American Gulag’ at Guantanamo within 6 months of office, and second, he vowed to try the 9/11 suspects in civilian courts in the USA. Still, he was blocked from executing by the directors and producers of 9/11.

After more than 10 years and with so much evidence gathered to disprove the government’s version of events, trials by jury will almost certainly find them innocent, but there is a greater catch: who are the real culprits? It is a question that the government cannot afford to answer, not by any chance. A kangaroo court is the easiest way out…

The five suspects will face charges of terrorism, hijacking aircraft, conspiracy, murder in violation of the law of war and other counts.

"The charges allege that the five accused are responsible for the planning and execution of the attacks of September 11, 2001, in New York and Washington DC, and Shanksville, Pa, resulting in the killing of 2,976 people," the defence 
department said in a statement.

"The convening authority referred the case to a capital military commission, meaning that, if convicted, the five accused could be sentenced to death."

War porn took the limelight on the evening of September 11, 2001, when the George W Bush administration launched the "war on terror" - which was interpreted by many of its practitioners as a subtle legitimization of United States state terror against, predominantly, Muslims.

Now fast-forward to the end of 2008, early 2009, when Israel - using American fighter jets to raise hell - unleashed a large-scale attack on the civilian population of the Gaza strip. 

Look at the official US reaction; "Israel has obviously decided to protect herself and her people," said then-president Bush. The US Congress voted by a staggering 390-to-5 to recognize "Israel's right to defend itself against attacks from Gaza". The incoming Barack Obama administration was thunderously silent. Only future Secretary of State Hillary Clinton said, "We support Israel's right to self-defense." 

At least 1,300 civilians - including scores of women and children - were killed by state terror in Gaza. Nobody invoked Responsibility to Protect(R2P). Nobody pointed to Israel's graphic failure in its "responsibility to protect" Palestinians. Nobody called for a "humanitarian intervention" targeting Israel. 

The mere notion that a superpower - and other lesser powers - make their foreign policy decisions based on humanitarian grounds, such as protecting people under siege, is an absolute joke. So already at the time we learned how R2P was to be instrumentalized. It did not apply to the US in Iraq or Afghanistan. It did not apply to Israel in Palestine. It would eventually apply only to frame "rogue" rulers that are not "our bastards" - as in Muammar Gaddafi in Libya in 2011. "Humanitarian" intervention, yes; but only to get rid of "the bad guys."

The killer awoke before dawn 

The most recent installment in serial episodes of war porn is the Kandahar massacre, when, according to the official Pentagon version (or cover up) an American army sergeant, a sniper and Iraqi war veteran - a highly trained assassin - shot 17 Afghan civilians, including nine women and four children, in two villages two miles apart, and burned some of their bodies. 

Like with Abu Ghraib, there was the usual torrent of denials from the Pentagon - as in "this is not us" or "we don't do things these way"; not to mention a tsunami of stories in US corporate media humanizing the hero-turned-mass killer, as in "he's such a good guy, a family man". In contrast, not a single word about The Other - the Afghan victims. They are faceless; and nobody knows their names. 

A - serious - Afghan enquiry established that some 20 soldiers may have been part of the massacre - as in My Lai in Vietnam; and that included the rape of two of the women. It does make sense. War porn is a lethal, group subculture - complete with targeted assassinations, revenge killings, desecration of bodies, harvesting of trophies (severed fingers or ears), burning of Korans and pissing on dead bodies. It's essentially a collective sport. 

US "kill teams" have deliberately executed random, innocent Afghan civilians, mostly teenagers, for sport, planted weapons on their bodies, and then posed with their corpses as trophies. Not by accident they had been operating out of a base in the same area of the Kandahar massacre. 

And we should not forget former top US commander in Afghanistan, General Stanley McChrystal, who in April 10, 2010, admitted, bluntly, "We've shot an amazing number of people" who were not a threat to the US or Western civilization.

Truth behind 9/11 will annihilate Israel: (I doubt it)

I doubt if 9/11 truth will annihilate Israel. It is a nation that thrives on lies and half-truths. It controls the media that shapes our perception of what is right and wrong; truths, half-truths, and lies. The Americans, according to this article, will erase Zionism from the planet if the truth be known about 9/11, which I found rather hypercharged. The American people know the truth, but they are a people living in a state of denial, not only about 9/11 but about a lot of other things. A glaring example is Israel’s attack on the USS Liberty.

Did the USA even say sorry to the people of Iraq when no WMD were found? The answer is ‘no’ because they are in a state of denial that the Iraq war was wrong, despite the absence of WMD. Like Israel, the USA is a nation that believes in its divine right to exceptionalism. Unlike Israel, though, they don’t believe they are a chosen people of God; instead, they think in self-righteousness. Like Israel, they feel they cannot be wrong, which is rather…LAUGHABLE but poses a real danger to the rest of us who are neither Israelis nor Americans.

CNN: 4 big myths of Book of Revelation

I am a Muslim; I should not even be talking about this. Regardless of what Christians believe about their religious book, there are two (2) in the book of Revelation that I found really more than just intriguing…it is absolutely MINDBOGGLING. The Beast 666 is U.N. Resolution 666 (September 13, 1990), leading to the battle for Babylon (Iraq). The physical nature of the Beast 666 is the exact replica of the U.N. Security Council with 7 heads (5+2 superpower permanent members) and 10 horns (10 non-permanent members changeable every 2 years). Even more mindboggling is the New Jerusalem, the Biblical description of which is the exact replica of the ‘Haram Mosque’ in Mecca in its present architectural makeup. The only possible way for the dreamer to see thousands of years into the future was if he had ASTRAL TRAVELED in TIME :-)
