…let us honor the dead with PEACE!

The many investigations of the fallen 44 are not helping our quest for truth. It only shows our cynical affinity for entertainment. It is like a wound that we enjoy poking repeatedly with a flaming torch. Regardless of how many times we hear the same story like a terminator movie; we like to see and hear it again but this is not a movie. People are dead and the fallen are not going to get up and shake hands with the director.

General Espina was emotional today but will he be equally emotional if he has seen the countless Muslim men, women and children slaughtered by the Armed Forces? Was he ever assigned in Mindanao? If he had; he would be lying if he denies seeing the atrocities committed by men in uniform of the Philippine government. If some of the fallen 44 were “finished off” as the term they chose to use was correct; they the MILF or other groups including armed bandits that joined the fight did it out of anger or vengeance for a loved one whose life was likewise untimely terminated by the Armed Forces.

There are no just wars – all wars are evil and what happened in Mamasapano should make the passage of the BBL even more urgent. There is no guarantee that it will bring peace but it is the best we have that is worth the gamble. Let us honor the blood of the fallen 44 and 18 freedom fighters with peace so that theirs will be the last – Insaallah!

Killing the “BBL” will only benefit the merchants of death and the political vultures who will be feasting on the carcasses of peace.

Often times I wonder if cats and dogs will go to heaven while humans go to hell because despite our technological advances; we humans have spiritually regressed. We have become as savage as ever towards each other’s. Cats and dogs don’t tear each other’s apart like humans do. Open your TV and watch in HD how humans blow each other’s brains. The “Mamasapano” incident is not unique - it is happening as we speak in every continent of the planet…

SIGNS OF THE TIME: Cardinal Tagle – Jesus is a prophet of God

It’s 1:00 am in KSA and I had half hour to waste before my time for bed. Its 6:00 am back home so I clicked on ANC (TFC.tv) wanting to see what is the latest on the news. It completely slipped my mind that it was Sunday. Cardinal Tagle was beginning the day with the first reading of the Bible and I being a Muslim and a Bible fan – I can’t get myself to shifting the channel.

I just had the shock of the day: the cardinal “not once” did he refer to Jesus as “our Lord Jesus Christ;” the usual litany of words that you hear from the priesthood but repeatedly refer to Jesus as the true prophet of God and only few times did he follow it up with “son of God.” I had a feeling that the cardinal cannot bring himself to calling Jesus “Lord and God” meaning the argument is now shifting from Jesus – “SON OF GOD AND GOD” to Jesus; “THE PROPHET OF GOD AND SON OF GOD.”

Sometimes ago; England’s bishops conference declared that Christians are no longer obliged to believe that Jesus is God. Huh! What happened…?

(If someone uploads it on you tube or if abs-cbn archives it on ANC; I will embed the video here)
